GIBTM, the Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition, kicked off today (24 March) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre with a record number of exhibitors.
GIBTM 2014 has a record number of exhibitors – 300 – and has also seen an increase in hosted buyer numbers. There are more than 255 corporate event planners, agencies and associations from 36 countries.
The show expects more than 2,000 trade visitors – a year-on-year increase of 10%.
The education programme includes a session from Rob Davidson of the University of Greenwich in London, who will present the results of the Middle Eastern Meeting Planners’ Site Selection Survey, which is new research into the factors that are most important to Middle Eastern meeting planners when they are deciding where to locate their events.
There are also sessions from industry associations including MPI, ICCA and SITE, covering industry trends, sustainability, issues impacting the corporate travel industry, and the challenges of staging international association meetings.
