Cirque de Soleil co-founder Daniel Gauthier has entered the hospitality sector with a $230 million investment in Le Massif de Charlevoix, a resort area along the St. Lawrence River, north of Quebec City. Long popular with Quebecois elites, Gauthier’s vision has put Charlevoix on the group meeting map.
Gauthier purchased and expanded facilities at Le Massif de Charlevoix ski hill in Baie-Saint-Paul. He also built a 145-room eco-resort, Hotel La Ferme, on farmlands next to the ski hill. The resort, which has meeting space, is contained in five unique buildings around a courtyard, making it highly flexible for full and partial privatizations by groups.
