One of the greatest contemporary art collectors in the world has loaned 50 works of art to the Grimaldi Forum for their annual summer exhibition.
French business tycoon François Pinault may own some of the most prestigious luxury brands such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney, but he is also one of the world’s major art collectors.
Having originally planned to open his own private museum on an island on the Seine in the southwest of Paris, he abandonned the idea due to being continually frustrated by the red tape, and chose instead Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana in Venice to host his impressive art collection. In total, these are more than 2,000 works on display.
Every summer the Grimaldi Forum Monaco produces a major themed exhibition, and this year it will feature fifty or so works from the Pinault collection, the majority of which have never been exhibited publicly. The exhibition, ArtLovers, runs from July 12th to September 7th.
