I’m here in Vegas at one of the biggest trade shows I’ve ever been to – IMEX America. This is my second time at an IMEX show and I’m completely astounded each time at the scale of the event. The booths are huge and elaborate and it seems like everyone from the industry is here. However, trade shows like this can be quite overwhelming and they actually require a game plan to be successful. So – whether you are a supplier or attendee – how can you make the most of a large-scale event like this?
SET YOUR PLAN
You may not like to research, but to be successful at an event like this, you have to spend some time before you get to the event figuring out who will attend and who you’d like to meet. Set up as many meetings as you can in advance, but leave room for serendipity, too. Make a list of all the people you want to meet, the booths you want to see and the educational sessions you want to attend and put it all in your calendar with relevant info like email addresses, room/booth numbers, etc. This will help you stay on track and not be fumbling through emails and maps all day long.
