Tourism Minister highlights importance of South African business events sector

South African Tourism Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk has emphasised the need for broad recognition in South Africa of the business events industry as a major driver of job creation and skills development.

The Minister was speaking at IMEX 2013, which took place last month, where a number of other new developments focusing on South Africa were announced.

Amanda Kotze-Nhlap, executive manager of the South African National Convention Bureau (SANCB), said that it will become the first convention bureau globally to roll out a customer relationship management system for the benefit of its regional convention bureaux. This will help to ensure cost-effective bidding among the country’s bureaus.
