The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau used the EIBTM exhibition to announce a 13% uplift in business traveller numbers this year, to a little over one million visitors.
The boost was mainly driven by the 315,000 visitors to conventions in the country and 247,000 participants in incentive trips this year.
The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) said it wants to target “high quality” business travelers in 2014 rather than concentrating on increased quantity. However, the bureau did say it has a target to increase business traveller numbers by 5% next year and business event revenue by 10%.
TCEB said it will focus on maintaining and developing the business events market from Europe and that the UK a key target in its strategy.
