Today I’ll continue our exploration of Olympics destinations with Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where the 2016 Summer Olympics will take place from August 5 – 21, 2016. Rio is a 400-year-old city that has grown into a bustling metropolis with over 6.3 million residents.
In preparation for the Olympics, 3 new Brazil Rapid Transportation (BRT) corridors will link Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport with key game locations. Transcarioca will whisk visitors and athletes to Barra da Tijuca, where the bulk of the games will take place, Transolimpica, will link Deodoro and Barra da Tijuca, where there will be important venues for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Transbrasil providing access to Avenida Brasil.
