The first edition of IBTM India — the seventh trade show in its IBTM portfolio of incentive, business travel and meetings industry events — concluded last week in Mumbai, organizer Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE) announced today, remarking that the event was praised by both buyers and suppliers as an “excellent new forum for business and knowledge.”
The event, which took place Sept. 12-14, featured a tabletop format whereby exhibitors met one-on-one with buyers during pre-arranged meetings that took place over a tabletop environment. Its one-to-one pre-scheduled appointment system guaranteed approximately 2,496 appointments, which translated to an average of 34 per exhibitor.
Approximately 200 delegates attended the event’s half-day opening conference, which included a keynote address from Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik, an Indian physician turned mythologist, followed by a panel debate about the state of India’s inbound and outbound travel industry. The event also featured a networking seminar sponsored by the Indian chapter of the Society of Incentive Travel Executives (Site), which called the event a “complete success.”
