Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city after Copenhagen is a haven for groups seeking culture, gourmet food and outdoor activities. Located on the east side of the Jutland peninsula, there are beaches and forests within a 15-minute bike ride of the city.
“The city is compact, with everything within walking distance,” says Peer Kristensen, director and general manager of Visit Aarhus. “It offers a good range of international and boutique hotels and the restaurants and activities available rival those of many other cities.” He adds that the fact that Aarhus will be European Capital of Culture in 2017 will help to improve the profile of the destination among C&I groups.
