An IET Venues survey showed significant change in trends, with 58% of event planners booking Christmas parties 6-12 months in advance.
In a survey that was put to 100 event planners, almost two thirds of them said they begin planning their Christmas party 6-12 months before the actual date.
This is in comparison to research carried out in 2010 which found that only 6% of event planners started planning the Christmas party more than a year in advance.
In previous years it was common for organisations to leave booking the Christmas party to the last minute in order to secure the best deals. However, it appears that their focus has been drawn away from cost-saving strategies.
Some 35% of the survey also stated that getting the venue right is the most important factor.
