The new convention centre in Antibes Juan-Les-Pins will fill a gap in the Côte d’Azur market when it opens in the autumn, says convention bureau director Philippe Baute.
Built at a cost of €23m (£19m), the public/private funded centre will have a 500-seater auditorium, 12 multi-purpose meetings rooms, and 1,700sqm exhibition space, designed to complement larger venues in Nice, Marseille and Monaco.
The original convention centre was demolished in 2011 as it ‘no longer met the expected criteria of practicality and comfort’ and the new facility has been in the pipeline since 2008 at the seaside resort, which will provide around 1,000 hotel bedrooms within 1km of the new venue.
