Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) has been named as a finalist in the prestigious 2013 Scottish Event Awards in association with EventScotland.
The AECC, which is the largest conference, exhibition, banqueting and entertainment Venue in the North-East of Scotland has been selected in the ‘Best Large Venue’ Category.
The Award application was based on the 2012-13 year, and recently released year-end figures reported significant growth at the end of the Company’s 2012-13 financial year. Total number of events held at the Venue rose by 8% to 611, with event size increasing for many sectors.
In the past 11 years, turnover at the Centre has nearly trebled from £2.5m in 2001-02, to £7.1m in 2012-13 – the best year in the Centre’s 28 year history. It is significant to note that 2012-13 was a non-Offshore Europe* year, and that turnover was slightly ahead of 2011-12 which was an Offshore Europe year. This growth is predicted to continue in 2013-14, also an Offshore Europe year.
