Recruitment commences for new Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre

Venue management specialist, AEG Ogden has commenced its recruitment drive for the initial key positions for the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre following the appointment of the General Manager last month. The search has commenced for a Director of Sales & Marketing and Sales Manager – Exhibitions to become a part of this iconic project for the Sultanate of Oman.   General Manager for the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, Mr Trevor McCartney said that the recruitment of these roles and other senior executive positions was another major milestone in the lead up to the completion of the venue in late 2016.   Located four kilometres from the Muscat International Airport, the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre is being constructed in two stages. Stage One, incorporating 22,000 sqm of exhibition space will be completed in 2015, followed by Stage Two, featuring 3,200 and 450 seat tiered theatres, 14 meeting rooms and two ballrooms due for completion in late 2016.   Read more

Oman Secures IAOM Conference for 2016

More than 1,000 of the world’s top food industry professionals will head to the Sultanate of Oman when it hosts the 27th Annual International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) Mideast & Africa District Conference and Expo from December 5-9, 2016.   The IAOM MEA Congress at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre is set to attract decision-makers from the multi-national companies that control the food supply along with a range of investors looking for new business opportunities.   The announcement was made this week at the official signing ceremony at Omran Head Office attended by Omran Chairman Nasser Al Jashmi, Omran CEO Eng. Wael Al Lawati, IAOM MEA Chairman Merzad Jamshidi, IAOM MEA District Director Ali Habaj and Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre General Manager Trevor McCartney.   Al Jashmi said this announcement was significant milestone in the development stage of the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, and that it would be the first important conference at the Centre upon its completion in 2016.   Read More

It is an exciting time in the development period of the upcoming Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) in Muscat.   As MEETME reported in June, AEG Ogden is currently recruiting for a General Manager for OCEC – AEG Ogden’s seventh convention and exhibition centre in the Middle East and Asia Pacific region. AEG Ogden Group Director, Convention Centres, Geoff Donaghy said: “This is a unique opportunity to oversee a pre-opening team in a ‘greenfield’ destination.
