Luxury hotel plan unveiled for Dubai’s Culture Village

Dubai Properties (DP) on Tuesday revealed details of a third project in its Culture Village district – a luxury waterfront hotel.         The hotel, due to open in early 2018, will be one of the first luxury hotels in Culture Village, and will be operated by Anantara Hotel Resorts and Spa, the developer said in a statement.         The news was announced by DP following an agreement with the luxury hotel operator and owner of the Anantara brand, Minor Hotel Group. The hotel will comprise 270 guest rooms, a rooftop pool and restaurants, spa, and a range of F&B and retail outlets, along with a promenade and marina.           DP said it has appointed Das as lead architect for the project, with ground breaking expected to commence in the fourth quarter of this year. China may be facing a case of oversupply in its luxury hotel scene.     “When a new market opens up it is quite normal that you will see a lot of new supply go in,” Clement Kwok, CEO of Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels tells CNBC. “At the moment many people see great future prospects for China and they are building hotels in China.” Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels is the owner of the brand Peninsula with a total of nine hotels across the U.S. and Asia. Great Scotland Yard to be transformed into luxury hotel

A £100m redevelopment of Great Scotland Yard, the former home of the London Metropolitan Police, will see it reopen in early 2016 as a luxury hotel with conference space.   Plans to turn Great Scotland Yard into a five-star conference hotel have been given the go-ahead following an acquisition by London property developers Galliard Group.   The former home of the London Metropolitan Police will be transformed into a seven-storey hotel with 235 rooms, a restaurant and bar and conference facilities for 120 delegates.   Redeveloping the Grade II listed building is expected to cost £100m, which will include VIP suites worth up to £10,000 a night, making the hotel one of the most expensive in London.   Read More

The Ritz-Carlton in Almaty, Kazakhstan, recently opened as a collaboration between The Ritz-Carlton and real estate developer Capital Partners. The two last collaborated on the Ritz-Carlton, Moscow.   According to Hospitality.net, the 145-room hotel is located in the 37-story Esentai Tower, and has over 10,000 square feet of meeting facilities. The building also has a shopping mall and residential complexes.   Accommodations in the property range from 131 square feet in the property’s deluxe room to 787 square feet in The Ritz-Carlton Suite.
