Florence to host 3 prestigious conferences in 2015

Florence wins, taking home three new conferences for 2015: the WEEF World Engineering Education Forum (International Forum on Engineering Education), the International Congress of Acoustics and Vibration (International Congress on Sound and Vibration) and the Annual Meeting EMEARC (Europe Middle East and Africa Regional Council) by OCLC, the largest cooperative network in the world of libraries and cultural organizations.   Thanks to the efforts of Florence Convention Bureau, Firenze Fiera and local partners, the event will bring to the territory of Florence about 3000 participants including professors, researchers and professionals and will produce a total turnover of Euro 3,000,000, an economic impact of approximately 1,300,000 and € 11,000 nights among the hotels locatad in the city and its surroundings.   After being hosted in cities like Singapore and Dubai , the World Engineering Education Forum will arrive in Florence from 20th to 24th of September 2015 bringing, at the Congress Centre of Firenze Fiera, about 1500 participants from all over the world with the aim of encouraging interaction and dialogue between professionals about engineering education.   The event, entitled “Engineering Education for a Resilient Society “, will focus on the fundamental role of engineering education in the developing of a […]

Italian Inbound and Outbound Travel: The Most Popular Destinations

There were no great surprises in the international inbound statistics to Italian cities, which identified those that had the greatest number of visitors from abroad in 2013. The ranking, which is based on hotel booking figures made through website Hotels.com, confirms that the big cities remain the most popular destinations, in terms of both inbound tourism to Italy from abroad and international outbound travel among Italians.   Rome, like every year the undisputed leader, was the Italian city most visited by foreigners in 2013. Venice was in second place, followed by Milan, Florence, Bologna and Naples. In seventh and eighth places were Sorrento and Pisa, smaller cities but ones with a definite tourist appeal. It is clear that Italy continues to have a very strong international brand.   But Italy is also known for its cuisine. Italian cooks rely chiefly on the quality of the ingredients rather than on elaborate preparation. Ingredients and dishes vary by region.
