Sydney has welcomed the first wave of more than 4000 Pro-Health China distributors who will travel to the harbour city for a five-day incentive program between September 18-24.         One of China’s fastest growing direct selling companies, Pro-Health China runs up to three incentive programs every year and has been keen to return to Sydney after a successful, smaller VIP incentive in 2009. WASHINGTON Here’s a look at the most anticipated Washington restaurants, hotels, party rooms, corporate event venues, conference centers, and private rooms to open this year. These new and renovated Washington venues can accommodate groups large or small for private and corporate events, meetings, business dinners, cocktail parties, conferences, weddings, and more.   1. On May 1, the much-anticipated 1,175-room Marriott Marquis Washington, D.C. will open adjacent to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The hotel will offer more than 105,000 square feet of meetings space, including the 30,000-square-foot Marquis Ballroom, two 10,800-square-foot ballrooms, more than 53,000 square feet of meeting rooms, an indoor event terrace, and a rooftop terrace. Slated to earn LEED Silver certification and designed by Cooper Carry Architects and TVS Architects, the hotel spans almost the entire block.   2. This spring, chef José Andrés will open America Eats Tavern at the Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner. The restaurant originally ran as a pop-up in downtown Washington in conjunction with a National Archives exhibit and was meant to serve as a history lesson about the roots of American cuisine. How Top Event Venues Are Adapting to Serve Large Groups

Gone are the days when a venue’s ability to host large-scale events was measured on square footage alone. Today conference planners increasingly search for event venues that offer size plus something more—designs that allow them to make a meeting feel, well, less like a meeting.   When long-standing New York City nightclub Marquee reopened as a music-focused venue in January, the layout was rethought to also make it better for business events. Owners wanted to maintain a hip club atmosphere but create a better sense of arrival and a space that was more transformable and adaptive for corporate groups. Josh Held of Josh Held Design handled the redesign. “We took a club with a funky entrance—you entered in front of a bar packed with people, there was no procession—and took the roof off and raised it,” Held says. The 1,200-person space was converted into a warehouse-like room with 28-foot ceilings and industrial design elements. Upon entering, guests encounter a long procession that leads them to the middle of the expansive open space—as Held puts it “channeling the exhilaration of stumbling upon an underground music venue,” but on a much grander level. Major advances in technology in the past decade have vastly changed the way the industry plans, executes, and measures the success of events and meetings. There are apps and sites that let planners raise money, send invitations, control seating plans, and sell tickets. LED walls can now react to human movement, while NFC- and R.F.I.D.-enabled bracelets and other devices connect guests to their social media accounts and other digital platforms. Are post-event surveys necessary when you can track attendee feedback on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other places? There’s even a way to use holograms to replace—or resurrect—performers. According to wikipedia, an event planning is the process of planning a festival, ceremony, competition, party, concert, or convention. Event planning includes budgeting, establishing dates and alternate dates, selecting and reserving the event site, acquiring permits, and coordinating transportation and parking.   There are many different names for an event planner such as a conference coordinator, a convention planner, a special event coordinator, and a meeting manager.   Event planners’ work is considered either stressful or energizing. This line of work is also considered fast paced and demanding. Planners face deadlines and communicating with multiple people at one time.
