Take a look… Appointment Requests For the first time, through the new Hosted Buyer platform, exhibitors will be to self-select appointments with hosted buyers. Once the buyers have made their appointment preferences and the buyer appointments have been matched, exhibitors will be able to browse and request appointments with more buyers to fill their diaries. Exhibitors will also be able to block appointment slots for private meetings that have been arranged outside of the EIBTM appointment system. Spanish Hosted Buyer Program The Spanish National Hosted Buyer Programme qualification criteria has been amended this year to allow Buyers from Spain to be accepted onto the EIBTM Hosted Buyer program, even if they place only domestic business. A wealth of key events have been unveiled by Britain for Events ahead of National Events Month in October. The campaign, which has been split into four week-long sections, focusing on conferences, exhibitions, sporting events and corporate hospitality, will see a series of branded meetings, as well as a focused host event which will include a launch reception for the industry. And the initiative will culminate in the #NEMO Celebration Event on 27 October at the Museum of London, organised by cvent in partnership with caterers Party Ingredients. The India meetings and events market is growing dramatically, according to a new market research study, with more than half of respondents reporting an increase in the number of events they have organised in the last 12 months. The India Meetings & Events Industry Survey (IMEIS) also found that 73 per cent of planners expecting the number of events they organise to increase in the coming year. The results of the interviews with 195 organisers from the corporate and association sectors, sponsored by CVent and Reed Travel Exhibitions, were analysed by The Right Solution on behalf of CAT Publications and presented to the industry at IBTM India in Chennai today. It found that average budgets for events have been increased by 11.6 per cent in the past 12 months – and organisers are predicting a further leap of 12 per cent in the coming year. The results reflect a wide range of activities, including 25 of respondents employing incentive travel either for their own organisations or on behalf of clients. The most important metric you need to report on event management is ROI In other words, how many of the guests you’ve hosted have subsequently made purchases that were greater than the cost of hosting them. Establishing these figures will require the merging of data from your CRM or financial systems with data that you’ve collected from past events. Companies will hold more but smaller events next year, according to Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT), which recently published its predictions for the most significant meetings industry trends of 2014. Thanks to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the Winter Olympic and Paralympics Games in Russia, 2014 will be an “exciting time” for the events industry, according to CWT, which forecasts an increase not only in sporting events, but also in business-related meetings, which have seen a steady 1-2 percent growth year on year, it says. Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) has partnered with various stakeholders to host more than 50 leading GCC tour operators, destination management companies and travel professionals, in a major drive to boost regional tourism. As part of the four-day programme, the delegation visited many of the emirate’s top attractions, including Yas Island, Yas Marina Circuit, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi Corniche, Emirates Palace hotel, Arabian Nights, St Regis Abu Dhabi.
