GIBTM gets underway in Abu Dhabi

GIBTM, the Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition, kicked off today (24 March) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre with a record number of exhibitors.   GIBTM 2014 has a record number of exhibitors – 300 – and has also seen an increase in hosted buyer numbers. There are more than 255 corporate event planners, agencies and associations from 36 countries.   The show expects more than 2,000 trade visitors – a year-on-year increase of 10%.   The education programme includes a session from Rob Davidson of the University of Greenwich in London, who will present the results of the Middle Eastern Meeting Planners’ Site Selection Survey, which is new research into the factors that are most important to Middle Eastern meeting planners when they are deciding where to locate their events.   There are also sessions from industry associations including MPI, ICCA and SITE, covering industry trends, sustainability, issues impacting the corporate travel industry, and the challenges of staging international association meetings.   Read more

Organizers of the 2014 edition of The Gulf Incentives, Business, Travel and Meetings are reporting that the show is seeing “robust exhibitor and buyer interest” thanks to new exhibition features, an expanded educational program and innovative concept areas. An estimated 300 hosted buyers and more than 2,000 trade visitors are expected to attend.   Kicking off at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from  March 24-26, GIBTM will see some first-time exhibitors attending from Spain, the United States, Thailand, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Czech Republic, UAE, Korea, United Kingdom, Uganda, South Africa and Morocco.   Last year, GIBTM tripled corporate meetings buyer attendance accounting for 35 percent of all hosted buyers attending the show, compared to 11 percent from the corporate sector in 2012.   Read More

Middle East: Excitement builds ahead of GIBTM 2014 as business booms

The Gulf Incentives, Business, Travel and Meetings (GIBTM) exhibition is returning to Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from March 24 to 26, 2014 with an expanded remit and enhanced calendar of business networking opportunities.   According to Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), host of the recent International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) council meeting, the meetings and incentives sector is an increasingly important economic contributor that currently generates US$653 million (AED2.4 billion) each year for the emirate. This figure is set to grow by seven percent annually to reach US$1.39 billion (AED5.1 billion) by 2020.   The region is also in line to reap the economic benefits of a share of an estimated US$5.6 billion (AED20.6 billion) worth of global business, with IAPCO’s extended member base responsible for organising more than 6,500 meetings each year and accommodating some 2.5 million delegates.   Read More

Middle East: ADNEC to Host Middle East’s Largest Government Tech Show

Representatives of government departments, ministries and authorities from across the GCC will descend on the UAE capital next year when Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) hosts the inaugural Gov Tech Middle East   Organised by Terrapinn, the inaugural event, taking place from April 8 to 9 2014, will provide a platform for ICT professionals to interact, share knowledge and spark innovation within the government services sector.
