By looking at aggregated figures for each five-year period over the past 50 years, the International Congress and Convention Association has found the number of regularly occurring, internationally rotating association meetings is showing exponential growth, with no signs of a slowdown.

The ICCA database records that 173,432 meetings took place between 1963 and 2012. Of these, 1,795 took place in the period 1963-1967, compared with 54,844 in the period 2008-2012.
