In recent years Copenhagen has cemented its position as one of the world’s leading congress cities, with record year after record year in terms of meetings and congresses won for the city. Already, 2014 is looking like being yet another busy year.
In 2013 a record number of 57 international conventions and 272 corporate events were confirmed for Copenhagen in the years to come. That made 2013 the third consecutive record year in terms of bid- and lead wins. And, having closed the books on January and February 2014, an impressive 12 international conventions and 62 meetings and incentives are already secured.
The secret to Copenhagen’s success Copenhagen is not just easy to access and get around, but it has also quadrupled its number of hotel rooms in recent years and added several new conference facilities.
This summer will see the opening of a new Wakeup Copenhagen Hotel, while the Tivoli Congress Center has announced the opening of another hotel, set to open right next door in 2016.
But Copenhagen also offers that something extra to its clients: its remarkable achievements within sustainable meetings management, most recently with the ISO-certification of the Danish European Union Presidency, and the focus on meetings design, embodied by the Danish Meetovation concept, both of which have strengthened the city’s profile as a green destination. The major MINDevent in December further underlined the destination’s strengths as a meetings destination.
