The Grand Hyatt Singapore unveiled its Level 2 events space yesterday, confident it will be as game-changing as its Mezza9 restaurant that gave the industry the show kitchen concept when it opened years ago. Gone are the standard break-out rooms and the typical boxy, pillarless banquet hall. Instead, Level 2 of the hotel now features 1,000m2 of flexible space that morphs into intimate dining or conference rooms which feel more like meeting in a private Peranakan home than in a nondescript hotel space. Great entertainment for David Beckham’s dinner at the Venetian in Macau

As the world was talking about David Beckham spending some time at the luxurious Venetian Hotel in Macau, the international entertainment agency, Talents & Productions, was preparing some great entertainment for his dinner. Las Vegas Sands, owner of the Venetian Macau, signed an agreement to cooperate with the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and England football star’s company to promote its business in Asia. Since the co-branding venture focuses mainly on dining and retail, it was normal for the Venetian to organize one of its first dinner called: « Up close with David Beckham dinner ». This first dinner took place on April 24th and for the occasion Viktor, the fastest speed painter in the world, was invited as entertainment for the evening. As usual, Viktor created a unique painting representing a portrait of David Beckham. This painting got painted in just a few minutes using only glue and glitters. It was then left to the hotel as a gift. Viktor is one of the numerous exclusive talented artists represented by Talents & Productions. China to Get New Business Travel Conference in 2015

As of next year, Chinese corporate travel professionals will get their own conference dedicated to building the body of industry knowledge and cultivating best practices relating to China’s business travel policies and decision-making process. Branded and modeled after TTG Asia Media’s Corporate Travel World (CTW) Asia-Pacific, the new edition in Shanghai will be named CTW China, and will focus on the interests and requirements of this geographical region. North Asia showcase highlights business events By Jacqueline Kot 11 April 2014 Australia’s North Asia Business Events Showcase comes to a close today in Shanghai as the country seeks to strengthen its position as the incentive destination of choice for Asian groups. Figures from the organisation’s ‘Tourism 2020’ report show that Australia welcomed 893,000 international business event delegates for the year ending September 2013, with a total expenditure of about US$12 billion. Some 86,000 Chinese business events visitors spent about $266 million in Australia during that period. China is now Australia’s third largest market for business events, behind the US at first place and New Zealand. It is the second largest market for in-bound tourism in general. Dubai Welcomes 14,500 Delegates As UAEs Largest Ever Corporate Incentive Group Arrives

The Dubai Convention and Events Bureau, DCEB, a division of the Department of Commerce and Tourism Marketing (DTCM), is welcoming the first of 14,500 incentive delegates arriving from Nu Skin Enterprises Inc. in China. DCEB won the bid for Dubai to host the Nu Skin incentive mega-group in January 2013, fending off fierce competition from Macau, Seoul and Singapore. The delegation, which represents the largest corporate incentive group in U.A.E. history, are arriving in seven waves, with one wave averaging around 2,000 people arriving every day between Sunday, April 6th and Saturday, April 12th. The last wave will depart the U.A.E. on April 17th, and each wave will be in the U.A.E. for five days. China to Become Top Business Travel Market by 2015, GBTA Predicts

If a new report is to be believed: Meeting planners and destinations should be keeping a close eye on China, which could provide more meeting attendees — both within China and outside it — in the near future. The report, “GBTA BTI Outlook – China,” was published today by the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA). In it, GBTA predicts that China will surpass the United States as the world’s No. 1 business travel market as early as 2015. Specifically, GBTA projects that China’s total business travel spend will grow 16.5 percent in 2014, more than double the rate of China’s GDP growth, which was 7.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2013. In 2015, GBTA says, the pace of growth will pick up, with total business travel spend increasing 17.8 percent to $309 billion. Although growth is driven by both domestic and international outbound travel, the former is the main driver, making up nearly 95 percent of spending on Chinese business travel. Read more

Yanqi Lake near Beijing set to host world-class conferences

China is hoping to show the world the modern, luxurious – and unpolluted – side of its capital city by hosting the Apec summit at purpose-built venues on the shores of Yanqi Lake in the outer suburbs of Beijing. The complex, which is due to be unveiled in May, has been designed as a showcase facility that can host major conferences, with a wide range of accommodation across. This includes the main 306-room Yanqi Lake Kempinski hotel, the 111-room State Guest House and 12 individual boutique hotel properties, each having between 10 and 19 rooms. Although China is used to building massive infrastructure projects, there are no other luxury resorts in the Beijing area, or possibly even the country as a whole, that can match Yanqi Lake’s scale and size.
